FAQ
Do you ship outside the UK,  into Europe?

We can ship into Europe using Royal Mail Air service. Select 'Europe Airmail' at checkout stage

What tops/caps are the bottles supplied with as standard?

The bottles are supplied with Polypropylene sports caps as standard. These are Non leaking, non leaching caps. Additional caps may be purchased as spares, the caps on this site fit all of our Mudpuppy bottles.

How are your bottles different from the 'metal' bottles on sale in many shops?

Those bottles are probably made from Aluminium. Aluminium is not safe to have direct content with beverages so they are lined with Epoxy or Ceramic. The ceramic linings can crack and the epoxy is a plastic coating which could leach toxins.

Why are you sure Stainless steel is safe?

All of our bottles are made from food grade 304 stainless steel. This is the highest grade of stainless steel, specifically designed for food, dairy and beverage industries. Stainless steel is easy to clean, inert, robust, hygienic and it does not deteriorate. There are many articles linking plastics to health problems and the devastating impact which plastic is having on our environment. By not buying disposable drinks containers or plastic sports bottles and sticking to Mudpuppies you will remove the risk of potential health defects and save yourself money.

How environmentally friendly is stainless steel?

Stainless steel is recyclable and a large proportion of the stainless steel used is recycled. It is made from naturally occuring materials and produced in China by an environmentally responsible manufacturer. We currently airfreight product into the UK but by September 2008 will freight by Sea. We have endeavoured to find a more local manufacturer but, despite much research, are unable to match product supply locally. We will continue our research in this area. The amount of plastic disposed of in the world is a huge problem that scientists are only just able to quantify. By reducing your plastic consumption you are saving oil, energy, money, your families health and ultimately the planet

Are the bottles heavy?

No. So much lighter than they appear. the actual weights are given on the product pages but our biggest bottle weighs 220g which is about the same as an apple.

Can I put hot liquids in the bottles?

No. They are only single walled and you will burn your fingers. We will be adding vacuum flasks or double walled stainless steel drinks containers to our product range soon

What is the cap made from?

Polypropylene #5. It is a non-leaching material

What is all the Hoo-ha about plastic?

We have filled our links page with lots of lovely reading material about the problem of plastic which may be summarised into 3 areas
1. Potential leaching of bpa into fluids which has been linked to serious health probs
2. It is non bio degradable - well it takes about 700years we think. we are creating a mountain of it on planet Earth and it is getting into our marine ecology and littered around the place as debris
3. It consumes a large amount of oil and energy to make
